The line between outdoors and indoors is beautifully blurred in the cabins at Cedar Valley, Hampshire
As a nation, we’ve grown hardier over the past two years and, let’s face it, anything you usually do indoors is more fun when transplanted into an open sky. That’s exactly the appeal of the ‘Kabins’ at Cedar Valley, deep in the Hampshire countryside.
Nestled on the edge of woods inside the private Bereleigh estate, the Woodland and Cedars Kabins are perfect for couples plotting a quiet escape. With huge windows, rustic wooden interiors and impeccable fixtures and fittings, this is luxury #logcabinlife. Snug and cosy inside, both cabins have firepits and outdoor baths that lend themselves to atmospheric after-dark drinks out on deck.
If the seclusion gets too much, pay a visit to Boycie – a renovated double-decker busy that serves as a deli and cafe for all campers and guests – and Ricicle, a converted horse box that now churns out pizzas in high season. In a crowded glamping market, these touches turn pitching up into a pleasure.
Try and stay a couple of nights if you can. Chawton House, once owned by Jane Austen’s brother and a regular feature in her letters, is 20 minutes away by car and houses a unique library of women’s literature; we’d recommend spending half a day. Alternatively, head out on the Meon Valley Trail, a beautiful stretch of the South Downs that’s home to chalk streams and flint-fronted churches. Cedar Valley sits slap bang in between the picturesque villages of East and West Meon – take a 45 minute hilltop walk to the Izaak Walton pub in East Meon for a hearty stop-off next to the river.
